Hudson, NH – Another busy weekend has come and gone at Cyclones Academy. This weekend, our Academy teams concluded the month of February and made final preparations for the 2021 USPHL Playoffs, which come up this coming weekend.

Here’s a look back at the weekend that was at Cyclones Academy!

15U: Coach Chris Zuccaro’s team just knows how to win hockey games. They won their fourth in a row on Saturday morning, paying a visit to the New Hampshire Avalanche at the Ice Den. 15U pulled out a 3-2 victory, as Matthew Ketcham slammed the door shut in goal. Cameron Diluzio, Nick Blanchette and Owen Cross scored the goals in the victory.

16U Elite: Coach Greg Lenti’s team split the weekend with a 1-1-0 record for the second weekend in a row. Once again, 16U Elite opened things with a Saturday victory. In the friendly environment known as Cyclones Arena, 16U Elite knocked off Bishop Guertin JV by a final score of 4-1. Jory Veenstra, Tanner Bilby, Colin Browning and Cole Curtiss lit the lamp in the win.

Sunday was not as kind. 16U Elite went on the road to Merrill Fay Arena and fell by a final score of 3-2 to the New England Wolves. Kell Kirtley and Alex Walker lit the lamp in the loss.

16U Premier: Coach Tim Plummer’s team also split a pair of games this weekend. On Saturday afternoon, 16U Premier knocked off Academy 15U in an exhibition tilt at Cyclones Arena. On Sunday? 16U Premier was toppled by a score of 5-1 by the New Hampshire Avalanche at the Ice Den.

18U Elite: It was a relatively quiet weekend for 18U Elite, who played just once. On Sunday night, 18U Elite won a thriller, 2-1 in overtime, over the Avalanche. Jonathan Rubio opened the scoring for the Cyclones, while Billy Dougherty scored the overtime winner. Peyton Brendel was sensational in goal, and collected the victory.

18U Premier: Just like with 18U Elite, it was a short weekend for Coach JT Henke’s team that ended on Sunday afternoon. 18U Premier got a pair of goals from Anthony Domina and an insurance marker from Luc Fricchione as they skated to a 3-1 win on home ice against the Wolves. Ty Smith and Colin Rowbotham split the game in goal, with Smith getting credited with the victory.
