Chris Zuccaro | Youth Vice-President & 13U Tier 1 Academy Head Coach

Chris Zuccaro has become a key part of the Northern Cyclones organization, having left an impact as both a player and a coach. A native of Hudson, New Hampshire, Zuccaro is entering his 7th season as a coach with the Cyclones. Zuccaro will serve as the head coach of the U16 Premier Tier 1 Academy and of the 2011 Academy Team. He will also serve as an assistant to the USPHL NCDC Team.

Prior to his coaching days, Zuccaro was a leader on and off the ice for the Cyclones as a player. He spent two seasons in Hudson playing junior hockey for co-Owner and now NCDC head coach Bill Flanagan. In both seasons, Zuccaro helped lead the Cyclones to the Championship Final in the AJHL and EHL. In his first season, the team lost the best-of-three series in the AJHL Final.

In year two, it was all about redemption. The Cyclones won the EHL inaugural Championship, with Zuccaro wearing the ‘C’ on his jersey. If winning the title wasn’t enough, defeating the rival New Hampshire Junior Monarchs in a best-of-five series to win it all did the trick.
Overall, Zuccaro played in 72 games with the Cyclones and finished his career with 57 points. He went on to play college hockey at Plymouth State University. At PSU, Zuccaro played four seasons, appearing in 81 games with 70 career points. As a freshman, Zuccaro helped lead the Panthers to a MASCAC Championship. The Panthers advanced to three MASCAC Championships in Zuccaro’s four seasons with the team. He was a Captain of the team in his Senior Season.

Zuccaro immediately went into coaching, joining the Cyclones for the 2018-19 season after graduating and has been with us ever since.

“I loved my time as a Cyclone and I knew from my time playing here that I wanted to come back and coach,” Zuccaro said. “To be able to get up everyday and be a part of something you love is the best feeling in the world."

Joe Fallon | Director of Goaltending

A lengthy playing career that spanned the junior, college and professional ranks has led Joe Fallon to Hudson, New Hampshire. Fallon was hired by the Cyclones in February of 2020, and will serve as the organization’s Director of Goaltending for the 2020-21 season. In addition, Fallon will serve as an assistant coach for Cyclones Academy.

A native of Bemidji, Minnesota, he began his hockey career as the goalie for his older brothers to practice on. Joe has played the position ever since. He grew up playing youth hockey in Minnesota, which was followed by three years of junior hockey for the Rochester Mustangs and Cedar Rapids Rough Riders in the USHL. Following his junior career, he began a successful collegiate career at the University of Vermont.

During his freshman year at Vermont, Joe was named 2005 ECAC ‘Rookie of the Year’ and set the UVM single season record with a 1.54 GAA during conference play. In his junior year, he was nominated for the Hobey Baker Award. Joe holds seven career single season and freshman goaltending records at Vermont, including the top three single season goals against averages in UVM’s history. He is the school's all-time leader in career shutouts (20), career goals against average (2.05), and career save percentage (.916). His collegiate career shutout record ranks third in NCAA history. In 2018, Joe was inducted into UVM’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

His successful college career led to him being selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the sixth round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Following his collegiate career, he began his professional career within the Blackhawks’ organization, where he played alongside Stanley Cup champions Antti Niemi and Corey Crawford. In total, Joe had a 12-year professional career between the AHL, ECHL and European leagues. That career was highlighted by a Kelly Cup Final (ECHL) appearance with the Las Vegas Wranglers, a ‘black ace’ position with the NHL’s Phoenix Coyotes, and the opportunity to play and live overseas throughout Europe.

In addition to playing, Joe has over ten years of experience as a goaltending coach. He has worked at goaltending camps across the country, including coaching at the Goaltending Development Institute at Shattuck St. Mary's alongside Vancouver Canucks’ goalie coach Ian Clark. He was the lead instructor for Tim Thomas' Goalie Camp in Vermont. He counts Ian Clark, Stéphane Waite and Wade Flaherty as some of the goaltending coaches who have been most impactful in his playing and coaching career.

Fallon was able to watch a player he coached before play in his first NHL pre-season game last fall. He calls that moment his favorite coaching achievement prior to joining the Cyclones organization.
